Film Festivals & Awards
"The film is littered with spectacular filmmaking, such as an aerial shot of Theo walking through a wooded area, or attempting to follow him as he rides his bike towards the dunes, not to mention the excellent montage of the two characters in Amsterdam which could genuinely be on the tourist board website."
"...the film is a shining example of precisely how to effectively pack maximum purpose AND delightful entertainment into a seriously abrupt timeframe, doing so intelligently and with that it... culminates in a fantastically jarring, undeniably hilarious, beautifully crafted finale that punches you square in the face. It's brilliant!"
A love letter to my moms hometown...
I wanted to make a film with my Opa and Oma in my mother's hometown of Heemskerk in the Netherlands. This was always a special place for me and my sister's to visit as kids, and my goal was to capture its unique beauty.
With a script in hand, I now needed a team. I was lucky enough to find an amazing group of skilled collaborators who braved the rainy Dutch weather and tourist-filled streets of Amsterdam to help make this story come to life.
'Going Dutch' is a love letter to my Dutch roots, with all its beauty, bluntness, and propensity to think outside the box.
It's a common saying in Holland that "God created the earth, and the Dutch created Holland." Whoever it was, I am grateful for it.
